Mycelia shop was created to turn the tide on fashion, to become a force for good.

I’ve known, and felt for as long as I can remember, that climate change and mass extinction are one of the few problems that we can’t fix later, and if left unsolved, it would eventually touch all our lives.
After working in sustainability for a number of years, attempting to do my bit for the looming environmental crisis, over time, I started to feel stuck.
Sustainability often asks us to stop. Stop buying, stop consuming, do less. But this message doesn’t often line up with how our world actually works, and what people actually want to do. We want to enjoy life, and feel good.
The idea for Mycelia shop came from a small, everyday moment. My partner just bought a Wikipedia cap. It was a green washed cap, which he loved and started wearing often. He told me he was on Wikipedia and was asked to donate. He hesitated, not because he didn't care, but because he didn’t want to feel like his money was going into 'a black hole'. He then noticed they sold merchandise. So he bought the cap and a new t-shirt. He felt good knowing he was funding a mission he cared about.
That sparked a question for us: how many not-for-profits are creating great products to fund their causes that people would love but we just don’t know they exist?
So I started researching. What I found surprised me. Many not-for-profits have upped their game. They’re making numerous high-quality, well-designed clothing. But most people still shop on the same big platforms for ease and from a lack of obvious alternatives. Though these platforms often line the pockets of billionaires and are produced with little care for the planet or the people making the clothes.
I truly believe people want to shop differently. If someone’s looking for a new t-shirt, a snug jumper, or a meaningful gift, they usually go for the fastest option available. But what if there was another easy option, one that looked good…felt good… and did good? That’s why we created Mycelia shop.
The idea of doing good and supporting the ecosystem is where the name Mycelia comes from. Mycelia are the underground networks that fungi use to share nutrients, support ecosystems, and help forests thrive. They’re quiet, powerful, and deeply connected. With small actions adding up to something much bigger. That’s how we see Mycelia shop: a growing network that connects everyday purchases to causes that matter, helping good ideas and resources spread and strengthen the whole system.
We’re at the very beginning of our journey. We launched in December, going up against some of the biggest and most recognisable platforms.
Our mission is simple - to turn fashion into a force for good, and to fund causes that actually matter.
If this resonates with you, we’d love your support. Spread the word. Tell your friends, tell your partner, and your colleagues who are looking for their next jumper, birthday gift, or even a new cap. Join our mission to change where our money goes.
